We offer a wide variety of woven roving products. These woven rovings are available in various ounce weights ranging from 10 - 60 ounces per square yard and widths from 4 to 130 inches. These wovens can be manufactured as standard products with respect to weight distribution or they can be customized to your requirements. We can weave more glass in the warp direction or make the product heavy in the weft direction depending on the structural requirements of the product you are manufacturing. We can provide a product that will wet out faster if required and we can offer glass with binders that are compatible with polyester resins, vinyl ester, epoxy or polypropylene. Rolls size can be standard at 100 yards or any specific roll length necessary to minimize waste in your operation. Roll sizes can be made up to 1000 yards. Lenos, which bind the edge of the wovens, are available in glass, polyester, and hot melt.

Combomat & Stitched Product

Wovens of any ounce weight can be combined with either chopped strand mat or chop to make a combomat. Combomat is manufactured in standard 2415 and 1815 weights and is available in standard widths of 50" and 60". Combomat, custom made from any weight of woven, is available with any weight of chop and can be cut to any width.

Customers sometimes need to have one to three ounce chop strand mat stitched for strength or they need wovens to hold together when they cut them to shape. Our stitched wovens and stitched mat provide the customer with excellent cutting and handling characteristics. These products can then be slit to the width necessary for the customer's requirements.

 

There are four kinds of knitted fabric classifications and Matrix Composites, Inc. offers all of them. First, we offer weft unidirectionals with glass in the 90 degree direction only. These weft only products are normally in the weight range of 2-10 ounces per square yard. Second, we offer an LT product which has fiberglass in the 0 degree and 90 degree directions. These LT or biaxial products usually range in weight from 10-40 ounces per square yard. Thirdly, we produce a weft triaxial, which is weft plus two layers of skewed double bias, or a warp triaxial, which is warp plus two layers of skewed double bias. These triaxials range in weight from 17-50 ounces per square yard total weight. The fourth product is a quad, which has an LT and two double bias layers. It is the heaviest of all with weights ranging from 20-60 ounces per square yard. Any of the knitted products can be produced with or without a layer of chop stitched on one side.

Chopped Strand Mat and Gun Roving are also available from Matrix Composites, Inc. Chopped Strand Mat is stocked in various ounce weights. Standard widths are generally 50" and 60" and 72".
